In an intense battle, the Sounders fell 1-0 to the Portland Timbers on Saturday night in front of 3,907 fans at Seahawks Stadium. The loss severely limits the Sounders chances in U.S. Open Cup play.

The Sounder Women defeated the Calgary Wildfires 7-0 in their 2004 season opener Saturday afternoon. Before nearly 1,000 fans the Sounders Women dominated the match in every category.

Celebrating 30 years of existence the Seattle Sounders honor former Sounders forward Chance Fry on a Sounders Legend Night on May 15th before the Sounders play Portland. Drafted by the Sounders in 1982, Fry was an integral part of the Sounders back-to-back championships in 1995 and 1996.

The A-League Team of the Week for Week #4 was released yesterday, Sounder midfielder Jason Farrell was selected for his one goal performance against Edmonton on May 8th.
Farrell’s goal in the 38th minute was the result of a free kick that he bent around the Aviators two-man wall from about 20 yard out to give the Sounders an early 1-0 lead.

SOUNDERS SEEK REVENGE ON TIMBERS: The Sounders will get a chance to get even with the Portland Timbers on home turf this Saturday, May 15th, at Seahawks Stadium. The Sounders opened their season against the Timbers on May 1st in Portland, but fell short 2-1. This Saturday will also be the second game in the US Open Cup qualifying round. The Sounders are down one goal in the aggregate series. Kickoff will be at 7pm.

(Seattle, Wash.) - - In front of a home opening crowd of 2,913 the Seattle Sounders battled the A-League expansion Edmonton Aviators to a tough 1-1 draw . In another physical battle, the Sounders played tough defense holding the Aviators without a shot in the first half but the Aviators were able to tie the game in the 90th minute on a penalty kick. There were five yellow cards and two reds throughout the game.

The Seattle Sounders will honor the accomplishments of former Sounders player Jimmy Gabriel at the Sounders’ home opener on May 8th at Seahawks Stadium. Gabriel will be recognized as a part of the Sounders Legend Nights this season in celebration of the Sounders 30th year of existence.

(Portland, Ore.) - - The Seattle Sounders fell 2-1 to the Portland Timbers in the season opener and U.S. Open Cup Qualification at PGE Park in Portland. In a physical battle that saw two cautions and an ejection in the first half, the Sounders fought back but could not overcome the one man and one goal deficit late in the game.

SEASON OPENER THIS SATURDAY: The Seattle Sounders will head south this Saturday, May 1, to battle the Portland Timbers at PGE Park at 7pm. The Sounders defeated the Timbers 1-0 in last season’s home opener in Portland.

The Seattle Sounders announced today the signing of forward Roger Levesque on loan from Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes. Declared a senior developmental player by the Earthquakes in early April to make room for a recent trade, Levesque became a roster-protected player allowing him to become available for the Sounders 2004 season.
