Bolanos Cleared By U.S. Soccer, Will Suit Up Against Atlanta

(Seattle, Wash.) - - After a week of waiting, new midfielder Jonathan Bolaños has been officially cleared by U.S. Soccer and is ready to play for the Sounders in tonight’s game in Atlanta. The former Costa Rican National Team member is signed through the remainder of the 2004 season.

The 26 year-old Bolaños made his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut on October 4, 2003 with the Chicago Fire. In his first MLS start on October 26th, Bolaños earned his first point on an assist just three minutes into the match.

Two Sounders Women Earn Team of the Week Honors For Week #10

(Seattle, Wash.) - - The W-League released Team of the Week honors for Week #10 late Tuesday, Sounders Women goalkeeper Meghan Miller and midfielder Michelle French received recognition for their efforts during the tail end of a 5-1-1 road trip during the month of June.

Former U.S. National team member Michelle French (pictured) continues her excellent season as she currently leads the league in assists with 10 in nine games. French had three assists against Mile High on June 16th and one against Denver on June 14th.

In front of a crowd of 3,850 fans, the Seattle Sounders faced the second place Eastern Conference Rochester Raging Rhinos. This match was the first meeting between these two teams since August 11, 2001 in Rochester when the Rhinos defeated the Sounders 2-1.
Whitecaps Hold Sounder Women Scoreless For The First Time In 2004

(Seattle, Wash.) - - In the second meeting between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Seattle Sounder Women, the Whitecaps snuck past the Sounders with a 1-0 win on June 19th at Qwest Stadium. Neither team was able to muster a win in the first match held in Vancouver on May 28th in the 2-2 tie.
Sounders To Honor Legend Pepe Fernandez on June 19th Before Rochester Match

(Seattle, Wash.) - - Celebrating the Sounders 30th year of existence this season, on Saturday night home games the Sounders will recognize one of the franchises all-time greats. On Saturday June 19th the Sounders will honor forward Pepé Fernandez for his soccer achievements in the NASL and as Seattle Sounder in 1974 and 1975.
Sounders Women Blowout Mustangs 6-0, End Road Trip 5-1-1

(Arvada, CO.) - - The Seattle Sounders Women ended their road stretch Wednesday night with a 6-0 blowout of the Mile High Mustangs at the North Area Athletic Complex. Two six-point performances by forwards Erin Redwine and Chalise Baysa (pictured) capped off the Sounders Women road trip as they finished 5-1-1 on the road.
Sounders Prepare for Eastern Conference Leader Rochester

(Seattle, Wash.) - - After a two game road trip the Seattle Sounders return home to face the Rochester Raging Rhinos who are currently tied for the lead in the Eastern Conference (7-2-1) with 22 points.

The Sounders defense will have the biggest task as they face Rochester's high powered offense which has scored 17 goals this season, third highest in the league. Rochester's defense has given up the third lowest total in the league, allowing only six goals in ten games. The Sounders are 3-1-1 at home and have only allowed four goals in five games in Seahawks Stadium.

Jackson Earns Team of the Week Honors For Second Time This Season

(Seattle, Wash.) - - Sounders defender Danny Jackson was selected to the A-League Team of the Week for Week #9. Jackson’s solid play and goal on the 1-1 Midwest road trip last weekend earned him his second Team of the Week selection this season. Team of the Week honors were released late Tuesday.
Hat Trick Earns Mueller Team of the Week Honors

(Seattle, Wash.) - - Sounders Women forward Brenda Mueller was selected to the W-League’s Week #9 Team of the Week for her three goal performance against the Fort Collins Force on June 13th as she led the Sounders Women to a 5-1 victory.

The four year veteran has been the offensive threat for the Sounders Women this season scoring eight goals in seven games. She has scored in all but one game this season. Mueller’s eight goals this season places her in second place in the W-League in goals scored.

BURPO, WELTON LEAD SOUNDERS TO VICTORY

(Milwaukee, Wis.) –Preston Burpo made the key saves and Welton scored another decisive goal as the Seattle Sounders edged the Milwaukee Wave United, 2-1, in A-League action Sunday at Pat Jones Field. The win pushed the Sounders record back above .500 at 5-4-1. Seattle opened the scoring in the 35th minute. Midfielder Sean Henderson sprinted by a Milwaukee defender through the left side of the penalty box, lofting a shot off his right foot toward the Milwaukee net. Chad Brown then redirected the shot inside the post for his first goal of the season.
