The Seattle Sounders today announced that soccer superstar David Beckham and legendary Spanish Club Real Madrid will square off against Freddy Adu and Major League Soccer (MLS) side, D.C. United on Wednesday, August 9th at 8:00 PM inside Qwest Field.

WEAVER, BESAGNO MAKE TEAM OF THE WEEK FOR PERFORMANCE AGAINST PORTLAND

The Seattle Sounders announced today two players, Forward Cam Weaver and Defender Jake Besagno, were selected among the league's top performers for the USL First Division's Team of the Week for Week 14. Weaver, the league's leading goal scorer, notched his 12th and 13th goals of the season against the Portland Timbers in a home and home series; while Besagno delivered the go ahead goal in Portland on July 21st.

Sounders Move Up In Standings With 3-1 Win Over Portland

The Seattle Sounders made it back-to-back victories over their arch-rivals the Portland Timbers with a 3-1 victory Saturday night at Qwest Field. It was a hot and humid evening but the Sounders got on track early with a Cam Weaver goal in the 10th minute. Sounder Forwards Roger Levesque and Maykel Galindo scored their first goals of the night sealed the victory in the 59th minute. The Timbers only goal was the result of a penalty kick.

Sounders Defeated Rival Portland 2-1 On The Road

(Portland, Ore.) - - The Seattle Sounders defeated arch rival, the Portland Timbers 2-1 in their third match up of the season. With the temperature in the mid to upper 90s at kickoff, the heat played a role as both teams struggled to get things going early. As the weather cooled the scoring heated up as the Sounders netted goals in the 86th and 87th minutes of the match to take a 2-1 lead.

The Sounders face I-5 South rival, the Portland Timbers in back to back nights this weekend starting with a match in Portland, Ore. on Fri. July 21st at PGE Park, then host the Timbers at Qwest Field Saturday, July 22nd. Friday night's match in Portland will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel, kick off is scheduled for 8pm.

Sounders Add Former WWU GK Ben Dragavon To Roster

The Seattle Sounders announced today the club added former Western Washington University goalkeeper Ben Dragavon to the roster to assist in the back up goalkeeper role. The first-year pro will fill in for James Ward as the back up this weekend against Portland and on the up coming road trip to Montreal, Rochester and Toronto next week.

LEVESQUE PULLS SOUNDERS EVEN WITH CARDIFF 1-1 IN 72nd MINUTE

The Seattle Sounders and the Cardiff City Bluebirds, from Wales of the English League Championship faced off in a 1-1 draw at Qwest Field. The Blue Birds took an early 1-0 lead in the 4th minute on a Michael Chopra goal. But Sounder Forward Roger Levesque netted in his first goal of the season for the equalizer.

The Seattle Sounders face an exhausting week of three matches in five days hosting Welsh club Cardiff City FC in an international exhibition match on Tues. July 18th and then battling rival Portland in a home and home series this weekend. Midfielders Leighton O’Brien and Andrew Gregor will each miss a game during the Portland series for red and yellow cards received in the Montreal match. However Cuban Striker Maykel Galindo has been cleared by team doctors and will see his first regular season action this weekend against Portland.

SOUNDER FORWARD GALINDO CLEARED FOR PLAY, RETURN AS SOON AS THIS WEEKEND

Second-year Seattle Sounder forward Maykel Galindo has been cleared by team doctors to return to the playing field after missing 17 matches with a broken nose and orbital bone, it was announced today. The Cuban striker was injured during an exhibition match on May 7th against Chivas USA in a collision with former Sounder Preston Burpo. Galindo may see time in an exhibition match with Cardiff City FC on July 18th, but will be available for the Sounders home and home series against rival the Portland Timbers starting on June 21st in Portland.
