The Seattle Sounders today announced the relocation of the August 11th Seattle Sounders vs. Virginia Beach Mariners match to the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila in an effort to assist Qwest Field in natural grass removal from the Real Madrid vs. D.C. United game.

(Seattle, Wash) – Wednesday night DC United and Real Madrid played in front of a sold out Qwest Field crowd of 66,830 – the largest crowd ever to attend a soccer event at the stadium. The fans made sure the stadium remained electric through all 90 minutes of play as the teams battled to a final result of a 1-1 draw. Goals were scored by Antonio Cassano for Real Madrid and Alecko Eskandarian for DC United just minutes apart in the first half.

The Seattle Sounders announced today that Dale Chihuly will present an original glass piece to the team captains of Real Madrid and D.C. United prior to the opening kick off at Qwest Field on Wednesday, August 9th, 2006. The presentation will take place at 8 p.m. Tickets to the World Cup caliber match – featuring David Beckham, Fabio Cannavaro, Raúl, and Freddy Adu – are still available.

(Madrid, Spain) - - The squad list for the US Tour is now official. Head Coach Fabio Capello has selected 24 players, including Beckham and new signings Cannavaro, Van Nistelrooy and Emerson for his team on the Tour ‘06 to Seattle and Salt Lake City. Brazilian striker Ronaldo and midfielder Guti will remain in Madrid as they recover from surgery and a fractured hand respectively.

(Rochester, NY) – The Seattle Sounders, in the middle of their last three-game road trip of the 2006 season, fell to Rochester Raging Rhinos 2-1 on Friday night at Paetec Park in Rochester.

(Montreal, Quebec) - - The Seattle Sounders faced the league leading Montreal Impact in their first of three road matches this week. On an early goal by Forward Mauricio Salles, the Impact defeated the Sounders 1-0 at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex. Montreal held on to their one goal lead despite several chances by the Sounders late in the match. The loss is on the second for the Sounders in their last eight matches, both coming at the hand of the Impact. The Sounders now move on to play the Rochester Raging Rhinos on Friday, July 28th.

The Seattle Sounders hit the road on a week-long road trip, playing three matches in five days, heading to Eastern Canada and New York to face-off with Montreal, Rochester and Toronto. With back-to-back wins over the Portland Timbers the Sounders jumped from 10th place into three way tie for 4th place in the USL First Division. The Sounders are 5-1-1 over their last seven league matches with their only loss coming against the Montreal Impact on July 15th.
