Timbers Cut Down Sounders On The Road 3-1

(Portland, Ore.) - - In the second match of a home and home series, the Seattle Sounders fell to the Portland Timbers 3-1 at PGE Park in Portland, Ore. In another intense match, both teams maintained a fast pace. The Timbers struck first in the 15th minute, but Sounder Defender Zach Scott scored his first goal of the season to tie the match. Seconds later the Timbers scored the go-ahead goal and held on for the 3-1 victory.

Friday night would bare witness to a hardcore back and forth battle between two rival northwest soccer clubs. And despite a plethora of opportunities for both teams, 29 total shots, the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers played to an exciting 0-0 draw.

The defending USL First Division Champion Seattle Sounders face I-5 south rival, the Portland Timbers in a home-and-home series this weekend. The Sounders host the Timbers at Qwest Field on Friday, June 2nd at 7pm. In the second match of the series, the Sounders travel south on Saturday, June 3rd.

The USL First Division announced today the league’s Team of the Week for Week Six. Scoring a combined three goals against second place Vancouver over the weekend, Sounders Forward Cam Weaver and Midfielder Andrew Gregor were selected to the week’s best.

In the tail end of a home and home series, the Seattle Sounders knocked off the undefeated Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 at Qwest Field. An Andrew Gregor penalty kick in the 43rd minute captured the Sounders second win of the season. The Sounders’ rookie GK Chris Eylander recorded his second win and shutout in consecutive matches helping Seattle improve their record to 2-2-2, 8pts.

(Burnaby, B.C.) - - The Seattle Sounders clashed with Northwest rival, the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 2-2 draw at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, B.C. Late game heroics once again by Sounders’ rookie Forward Cam Weaver tied the match in the 73rd minute.

The Seattle Sounders will host the club’s 4th Annual Kids Day on July 6th at Qwest Field, it was announced today. The kid-friendly match features the defending 2005 USL First Division champions against USL Premiere Development League newcomer Tacoma FC. Tickets for Kids Day are $5; kickoff is at 11am.

The defending USL First Division Champion Seattle Sounders face one of the league’s top clubs in a home and home series against the Vancouver Whitecaps this weekend. The Sounders travel north to Vancouver on Friday, May 26th then host the Whitecaps at Qwest Field on Saturday, May 27th at 7pm.
