The Seattle Sounders will host its 5th annual Kids Day on July 17th, as the Sounders take on Tacoma F.C. from the Premier Development League at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington.

SOUNDERS HOLDING INVITATIONAL TRAINING THIS WEEK

The Seattle Sounders have 15 prospects in town for an invitation only series of training sessions this week. They have been joined by a group of returning Sounders preparing for the upcoming United Soccer Leagues First Division season that kicks off on April 21 in Burnaby British Columbia against the defending champion Vancouver Whitecaps.
USL AND TURNER BROADCASTING LAUNCH NEW BROADBAND CHANNEL

TAMPA, FL -- USL and Turner Broadcasting announced a partnership to provide exclusive online video streaming of USL First Division matches featuring all 13 clubs beginning April 2007 through the 2009 season. The matches, which cannot be found on traditional broadcast or cable television distribution, will be available on the new broadband channel USL Live at www.USLLive.com, launching early April 2007.

The Seattle Sounders announced today that they will play an exhibition match against the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer (MLS) on April 7 in Kansas City.
SOUNDERS ADD DARREN SAWATZKY TO COACHING STAFF

Former Seattle Sounders forward Darren Sawatzky will join the team as an assistant coach for the 2007 season. Sawatzky is the second all time leading goal scorer for the team. He tallied 30 goals in 95 matches during the 2000, 2002 and 2003 seasons.
SOUNDERS RE-SIGN SAKUDA AND MERL, RELEASE GREGOR

The Seattle Sounders today announced the re-signing of midfielder Kevin Sakuda and defender Noah Merl. In other off-season news, midfielder Andrew Gregor has been released.
FORWARD MAYKEL GALINDO TRANSFERRED TO CHIVAS USA

The Seattle Sounders have transferred forward Maykel Galindo to Chivas U.S.A. of Major League Soccer (MLS) for an undisclosed transfer fee. Galindo will join his 2005 Sounders teammate Preston Burpo and have the opportunity to play for former Tacoma Star, now Chivas U.S.A. head coach Preki.

“We will certainly miss Maykel’s presence on the field this year, but we’re excited for him and the opportunity he has with MLS,” said Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer. “This is great story and I was glad to be a part of Maykel’s early soccer career in the U.S.”

49 POTENTIAL SOUNDERS COME OUT FOR THE FIRST ROUND OF OPEN TRYOUTS

49 hopefuls turned out for the first of two Seattle Sounders open tryouts held on Saturday and Sunday February 17 and 18 at the Starfire Sports Complex.

The players ranged in age from 16 to 30 and some traveled from as far away as Japan, Argentina and Ghana to be put through the paces by Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer and his staff.

WEAVER DODGES SNOW, SCORES FIRST GOAL

Last week, we had a match against Viking, a big club in Norway from Stavanger, and played on a field that had just had the snow cleared off of it. It was a Norwegian experience to remember. Nearly two feet of snow fell in the days leading up to the match, but we were able to get the field cleared in time, so luckily the match went on as scheduled.
