The Seattle Sounders will face their arch-rivals, the Portland Timbers, at the Starfire Sports Complex on June 26 in a knock out U.S. Open Cup second round knock out match. The winner of this second round match will face a Major League Soccer team in the third round. The loser will see their tournament come to an early end.
Tickets will go on sale June 15th at 10:00 AM through Ticketmaster.com, by calling 206 628-0888 or through the Sounders tickets office at 206 622-3415. Tickets are $13 presale or $15 at the gate on the night of the match. In addition, groups of 15 or more can purchase $11 seats.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly and with limited seating available, fans are encouraged to purchase early. By showing a ticket to the game, Mad Pizza will offer a free slice of pizza between 5:00-6:00 PM.
Fans will also be treated to a field level beer garden courtesy of Starfire Sports and Mad Pizza.
Parking will cost $8.00.
The Sounders advanced to the second round after soundly defeating the Banat Arsenal of the U.S. Amateur Soccer Association 4-1 on June 12. Portland defeated the Bakersfield Brigade, from the Premier Development League, 2-0 for the right to square off against the Sounders.
Facing each other twice in early regular season play, the Sounders have recorded a win and draw against their I-5 rival.
Dating back to 1914, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest soccer tournament in North America. The winner of the tournament receives $100,000.
