SOUNDERS AND STORM RAISE OVER 20 THOUSAND MEALS
Posted 6/7/2007

The Seattle Sounders and Seattle Storm combined to raise 20,346 meals for hungry children in the state of Washington during the finale of the first ever “Fuel the Dream Summer Food Drive Challenge” last weekend.

3,404 pounds of food and $2947.70 cash were raised at the Sounders and Storm games on June 2.

Despite the best efforts of Sammy the Sounder and the Sounders rally squad, it was the Storm fans who came through and won the “Biggest Heart” trophy for their team by collecting more food and cash donations.

The real winners of the event were the children and families who will receive the donations throughout the summer.

Although the competition is done for this year, you can still help by donating food or cash at the Toyota of Seattle showroom or visiting FoodLifeline.org.

Don’t miss the Sounders next benefit on June 17th where they will combine with the Crossfire Sounders Women to play the first ever co-ed match at Issaquah High School, 4pm. All proceeds from the event will go to help the family of Marin Morrison, a talented young swimmer who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Tickets are $10 and are available at the gate.
