Seattle Sounder’s goal keeper Ben Dragavon will get his first start against California Victory Saturday night while Chris Eylander serves a one match suspension for a red card received in the Sounders 1-0 victory over the Carolina Railhawks at Qwest Field Wednesday night.
Seattle Pacific University product James Ward signed on this week to be the Sounders back-up for the trip, which will see the Sounders face the expansion side based in San Francisco for the first time.
The Sounders (2-4-3 9pts) will be trying to carry the momentum of their hard fought second victory of the season into a match with the still winless Victory (0-2-1 1pt) who have played six fewer matches than Seattle.
In addition to missing the services of Eylander, the Sounders will also be without midfielder Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar as he recovers from an Achilles strain.
California is owned by the Spanish club Deportivo Alaves and opened their season with a 2-2 draw against the defending champion Vancouver Whitecaps. They have lost two straight and face the Portland Timbers in Portland on Friday night before flying home to take on the Sounders Saturday.
The match will kick off at 7:00pm Pacific time and will be broadcast through usllive.com.
