On July 8, 2006, Gardner scored his first MLS goal against Real Salt Lake. The University of Cincinnati product put together a strong showing in the CONCACAF Champion’s Cup last year and was at time considered a replacement for traded left back Todd Dunivant.
Drafted in 2004 after a standout career at the University of Cincinnati, Gardner is focused on getting back to the MLS or overseas as soon as possible. He looks to players like Brian Ching who have come through the Sounders system and moved to the highest levels as his inspiration.
