Bio: Forward Andre Schmid comes to Seattle after just one professional season in which he saw time with the Houston Dynamo and Red Bull New York. Coach Schmetzer will look to create a Cam Weaver Style forward out of Schmid, utilizing his size and strength along with his foot skill developed from playing in the midfield through college.
Due to a knee injury his junior year, Schmid spent five years with St. John’s University before graduating. Coming off the injury and redshirt season, heearned third-team All-BIG EAST honors with eight assists, 18 points and five goals. He also earned Third Team All-New York Region in 2005. After graduation, Schmid was the Dynamo’s third round pick in 2006.
